Sam Lev

From the NUMI joint venture between General Motors and Toyota, to the launch of the Saturn cars program and the development of the EV1, Sam Lev was a key player in numerous innovations at GM between 1985 and 2004. Prior to that, Lev worked with EDS at their Mesa, Ariz. proving grounds, leading teams in automotive testing and validation. With extensive experience in engineering, electrochemical batteries, outsourcing and start-up operations, Lev is a practical entrepreneur who is focused on revenue generation and service-based business practices.

Experience
- Launched General Motors’ small-cars program; led the development of requirements, processes and imperatives for the new-car launches.
- Led consolidation of GM small-car group into a single organization. Launched the common car development process and defined the base engineering content for each car program.
- Launched GM Saturn cars program and plant in TN and prototype shop in MI.
- Worked on Phase I development team of the EV1 new version.
- Led the knowledge center teams and resources to reverse engineer the GM new car programs and compare to GM competitors. Launched modification of engineering, manufacturing and assembly processes based on this analysis.
- Developed the manufacturing process for Ovonic batteries in Michigan.
