Here’s a graph from the Energy Information Administration (by way of Treehugger.com) that illustrates fuel savings achieved by a plug in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) as compared to a vehicle with an internal combustion engine over the life of the vehicle.

Two Billion Cars… and very little corn ethanol

Daniel Sperling, co-author of “Two Billion Cars: Driving Towards Sustainability” and a professor of Civil Engineering and Environmental Science and Policy at UC Davis, was a guest on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart earlier this week to discuss the role of governmental policy in changing our car culture. Clearly he’s no fan of corn ethanol.
