Help us name our company
It’s not every day that you have the chance name an exciting new company – but you have that opportunity today.
We are Plug In Hybrid, Inc. That’s our name today, and it’s not bad. Totally descriptive, and like Xerox and Kleenex, it gives us ownership of the space, in a way. But we’re thinking big, and we want to find a name that matches our vision.

More about the company you’re helping us name
We have developed a solution that enables us to convert existing trucks, vans and SUVs into more fuel-efficient hybrid-electric vehicles. That means you’ll still be able to tool around in your Escalade, while leaving the same carbon footprint as a Prius driver. Seriously.
Some more important facts about our company: We have a patent-pending technology solution, created in conjunction with Andy Frank, Ph.D. of UC Davis (a pioneer in the development of technology now used in the Toyota Prius and other hybrids) that incorporates:
- An electric motor attached to the differential
- The driver’s choice of a battery pack that meets specific driving needs
- The software controller that allows the gas engine, the electric motor and the battery pack to work together in a seamless manner, requiring no input from the driver
This solution is simple, practical and affordable, and appropriate for fleets and individual motorists. It will:
- Save money for people by allowing them to spend less on fuel.
- Help save the environment by reducing greenhouse gases.
- And enhance our national security by lessening our reliance on foreign oil.
And it’s just about ready to go. We will be driving two prototypes in Plug in America’s Inaugural Parade in Santa Monica on Jan. 17.
We are eager to bring our solution to market, and we will publish pricing and availability information as soon as it’s available.
Meanwhile, we want your help in finding a creative name that matches the exciting potential of the product. The way we see it, we are in partnership with you in creating a more energy-efficient method of personal transportation that empowers all of us live in a more sustainable way.

Plug-in hybrid does explain what the company offers. eVizun does explain your mission statement.
Please allow me to boldly offer more suggestions.
Inti the Inca Sun God has potential for several combinations.
IntiPlug
IntiVizun
IntiGo
IntiEngine
IntiKit
IntiDrive
A sun god logo is easier to brand because it’s already embedded in our subconscious by our ancestors.
Pyramid symbols work too! If Inti doesn’t ignite your passion, pick another sun god or religious icon for a good branding combination.
Looks like an amazing company. My preference based on the options is to keep your company name. eVizun is interesting and has potential after the current company name, however we need more clarity on what the name represents. It seems to imply that you have an electronic vision, so it may lead people to the wrong assumption. Good luck!
I just noticed your thunderbolt logo. The power of thunder often represents destruction, death and chaos. I can suggest names of Gods of Thunder, but most thunder/storm images re-establish fear. My favorite, of course the African Goddess Oya, Ukko is a Finnish God, and Taranis is an icon of Celtic mythology using both a wheel and thunder for symbols!
Plugoya
Go-Oya
OyaEngine
The Oya Kit
Ukkodrive
Ukkokit
Ukkoconversion
UkkoVizion
UkkoEngine
UkkoGo
Taraniz
TaraEngine
Taranizkit
Taranizplug, Taranplug
TaraVizion
Hi Sage –
Wow, awesome feedback! We will definitely be revising the logo, and I love your naming suggestions. Thanks for getting involved!
i like plugin hybrid. it’s easy to remember and straight to the point.
GO FOR IT! I am in! You build it I will buy it.
Now for the naming brainstorm: SmartPlug, SmartE, EDrive, Hybrid Inti Plugin (HIP)… okay, it’s been a long day…
Thanks solargroupies — great suggestions! We are driving prototypes and will soon be in production, so stay tuned!
I like eVizun – it’s quirky and makes you say it and then when it comes out of your mouth – it’s oh, wow – that’s it.
Thanks for pointing our some great attributes — we definitely want a name that’s catchy and fun.
